Natural support for seasonal nasties

Cough and cold season is upon us and all the little petri dishes are bringing home the nasties. Nature provides us with a plethora of plants that can support our immune system and help us combat the nasty viruses and the symptoms that accompany them. In this class we will identify several conifers as well as a few other plants that will serve you well through the season. Being in nature is healing to the heart and soul. Come breathe the fresh air with me while we prepare for the season!

Have a beautiful day with other beautiful souls
Learn how to properly identify and harvest several supportive plants
Discuss the medicinal and nutritional benefits of the plants
Process and make various remedies to support yourself and your loved ones
Discuss many ways of using the plant remedies you make
Discuss other ways we can support our immune system

What to bring:
Your beautiful soul
Lunch and water
A notebook and a pen
Harvesting bags and or baskets
Clippers, scissors, and cutting board
2 pint size mason jars for your remedies (maybe an extra... just in case)
A pint of raw honey and a half pint each of raw apple cider vinegar and brandy
Dress for the weather

A Day with Hawthorn

Hawthorn (Crataegus spp) is all about the heart! It is heart tonic for our emotional heart as well as our physical heart. Hawthorn is packed with flavonoids and many other constituents that work synergistically to support our heart.

In this interactive class we will learn all about hawthorn medicine and traditional uses. Harvesting and making plant medicine is about so much more than knowing the how, what, and where. Sustainable and ethical harvesting with love and intention is of the utmost importance.

Class objective:

Discuss medicinal properties of Hawthorn.
Learn to how to locate and properly identify Hawthorn.
Learn how and when to harvest for the best medicine.
Harvest and make various remedies with love.
How to safely use this lovely plant.

What to bring:

Your lovely self
A notebook and a pen
Lunch and water
Harvesting basket or bag
Several small jars – pint size mason jars
Enough brandy to fill a couple of those jars
Enough raw honey to do the same
A small to medium size bowl
Cutting board and scissors
A chair – we may process at the park if the weather is nice
It’s a good idea to wear waterproof shoes as the area we are going to is often muddy.

Willow

Willow (Salix spp) is one of many pain relievers found in nature. More than 100 species of willow are native to North America. Known as “nature’s aspirin”, willows most well known medicinal constituent is salicin, a pain reliever, anti-inflammatory and more! Let’s hang out by the river, learn about willows wonderful medicine and nourish our souls in nature! As always, we will learn, harvest, and process with love and intention.


Class objective:
Discuss the medicinal properties and many uses of willow
Learn how to identify, harvest, and process willow
Harvest and process willow by the river (if the weather is nice)
Learn who should and who should not use this plant

What to bring:
Love and maybe a little sunshine
A notebook and a pen
Large and small clippers
Scissors and a cutting board
A camp chair
At least 2 pint size mason jars, plus one half pint jar
A pint of raw honey
A pint of 100 proof vodka
½ pint of Witch hazel
Lunch and water
Dress for the weather - hiking type shoes are best
